Weekend WorkParty – The Shift

Welcome to the Phoenix Mind Weekend Work Party!!

Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch Distillery. The idea and image are based on their original idea.

Work Party: a space for the community to support each other in focusing and getting something done.

And, yes! You’re invited!

A Neuro-Ritual: Regular practise is important – I’d like to make a habit out of working hard and finding simple problem-solving solutions. Habits come from sustained practise and it makes sense to create positive tools. So please join in and make this a ritual for you too!

Drinks are provided, so help yourself!

P.S. It’s okay if it’s not the Weekend anymore – whenever you have something to report; jump on in. I usually update throughout the week and you’re welcome to jump in and start there instead. Total work-party amnesty!

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…

This week… Get my core reading done, Write 2 blog posts, Do a call for my job, Tidy room/house ready for friends-of-the-family to visit.
Today… Read my novel. Plan my shivanata post. Yoga. Start my essay.

The challenging part…

The reading’s heavy-going. The call still scares me. Getting Started.

How I want it to feel…

Crisp and fresh… like Autumn.  No pressure. Gentle.

What would help…

Tea. Space to practise my routines. A notepad nearby.

I would advise myself to… Take a step back. Remember that I have time.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Towards today’s goals… Open my blog-post file.
Towards the week’s goals… Tidy my room and download the reading for my course.

Party in the comments!

If sharing out loud isn’t your thing, that’s perfectly fine. Do come in and grab a drink or a dance though. Imagined scrolls count just as much as typed comments.

Wednesday Work Party :: applications cause anxiety

Welcome to the weekly Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!!

Work Party!

Thing(s) I accomplished last week… I did most of my social reading, wrote and posted THREE blog posts, Did that call for my new job, finished and put up my secret project.

Thing(s) I want to do…

This week… Finish my Poster Presentation, Start completing DClin application, Write three blog posts, Make cottage pie, Write another 200 words of essay..
Today… Write a blog post, plan the next few days, write a to-do list.

The challenging part…

The DClin absolutely terrifies me. On average it takes three years of applying to get in. This is my first try and I’ve already had to discount my first choice institution due to not meeting their minimum requirements.
Writing has been a little difficult this week. The essay has proven difficult, hence moving on to the poster presentation.

How I want it to feel…

I want to fee the quiet and take advantage of it. I’d like to feel capable as I proceed.

What would help…

Some upbeat dance music to keep me awake. (I am le tired). Using post-it notes. Maybe just reading the application and doing a mind-map of my answers?

I would advise myself to… Dance! Everything is better after a dance.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Towards today’s goals… Open some other blogs to read for inspiration.
Towards the week’s goals… Open my essay file.

Party in the comments!

If sharing out loud isn’t your thing, that’s perfectly fine. Do come in and grab a drink or a dance though. Imagined scrolls count just as much as typed comments.

This week… Get my new social reading done, write 2 blog posts, Do a call for my new job, tell everyone about my secret project.
Today… finish editing a blog post. tidy my room, batch cook. attend resilience training, shop.

The challenging part…

Having such a bad week in terms of mood and lacking support from my closest friends.

How I want it to feel…

I’m ready for Autumn, for the safety and quietude.  I’d like this to be soft and gentle.

What would help…

Green tea. Writing notes in my notepad. Sticky notes!!!

I would advise myself to… Remember that how you approach life is your choice.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Towards today’s goals… Finish the title page for secret project. Open the post about it.

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…

This week… Get my social reading done, Write 3 blog posts, Do two calls for my new job, Finish my secret project.
Today… Do 5 pages of my social reading. Outline a blog post. Do all my washing up. Today I’m also working 6 hours so.. survive that :P .

The challenging part…

Anxiety over my new course have crept in. I seem ‘blocked’ in terms of writing posts. I can’t make the calls until my special headset arrives…

How I want it to feel…

Fluid. Natural. And warm. I miss the warmth of Summer.

What would help…

Some rock music to keep me motivated. Green tea. Writing notes in my notepad.

I would advise myself to… Breathe. Remember that I’ve done this before.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Towards today’s goals… Open the reading pages.
Towards the week’s goals… Begin a mind-map outline of a post. Or just pick a topic.

Wednesday Work Party – the five elements edition

Welcome to the fifth Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!

Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch DistilleryThe idea and image here are based on their original idea.

Work Party: a space for the community to support each other in focusing and getting something done.

And, yes! You’re invited!

A Neuro-Ritual: So this is a Wednesday Ritual, because regular practise is important – if I make it a habit to work hard in certain circumstance then I can always induce those circumstances and my brain will automatically shift to working hard.  You know it makes sense to create positive tools.

So please join in and make this a ritual for you too!

Drinks are provided, so help yourself!

P.S. It’s okay if it’s not Wednesday anymore – I usually update on Thursday morning’s anyway, and time zones differ – let us know how you got on whatever the day! Total work-party amnesty!

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…

Read a book chapter. Look through forums of my two new money options. Research my secret project further. Practise writing with my graphics tablet. Tidy/finish unpacking.

The challenging part…

I haven’t been in the right state to just sit and relax with a book. Money-issues bring up resistance for me that i’m working through. Secret project is also surrounded by fears.

How I want it to feel…

I was to feel enthralled again. To be excited by the two new “adventures” in finance, and to feel relaxed and at ease enough to read. I’d love to feel supported by the few who know about my project. And maybe even by those who don’t yet know what it is.

What would help…

Shivanata. Tea. Soft Music? colour-co-ordinated calendars. Yes.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Sit on my bed with tea and a book?
Open my calendar and get the coloured pens to hand.

Wednesday Work Party: 4

Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch DistilleryWe’ve not had one in a while, and Eileen has given me permission to start one up on this blog. The idea and image here are based on their original idea.

So welcome to the forth Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!

The important part is gathering with intention in this space (usually the blog page comments) and sharing with the community. Your failures and successes will spur on others and we can support each other.

Drinks are provided, so help yourself!

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…

Tidy my room and begin packing for University. Get through Chapter 2 of my book. Get this PDF up and out. Clean the kitchen and weigh the cats.

The challenging part…

My room is a tip. I’ve got a mental block on what I will and won’t need at University. I have a lot of stuff I’d like to get rid of but can’t due to emotions.

The kitchen is going to get dirty again tonight.. I might wait until Friday to do it.

The cats are confused by this diet they’re on and aren’t very happy to be held right now. Let alone while the Wii Fit beeps at them.

I’m so tired, I don’t want to stand up and tidy. I want to sit here and game.  It’s also a gorgeous day outside..

How I want it to feel…

Energetic. Full of YIPPEEE! and fun. Exciting!

What would help…

Chai. Movement makes me want to move so maybe dance or something first?
Remembering how excited I am to be going back to university.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Go get some chai. As I pass my shelves/bookcase, grab one thing that needs to be somewhere else and move it.

Clean the kitchen worktop while the kettle boils?

Will You Join Me?

It doesn’t matter what you’re working on – pick something off your to-do list – how will you go about it? Come on in for a drink and let us know what you’re struggling with.

3: Wednesday Work-Party!

Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch DistilleryWe’ve not had one in a while, and Eileen has given me permission to start one up on this blog. The idea and image here are based on their original idea.

So welcome to the third Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…

-          Re-align my budgeting sheets as I’ve suddenly lost £3,000 from my estimates [thank you recession].

-          Post these darn thank-you letters that I didn’t get round to for various reasons.

-          Transfer my calendar stuff to my phone so I don’t get completely lost.

-          Sort out meeting-up with Claire and Laura before I go back to Brighton

The challenging part…

My budget for 45 weeks is £40/week – losing that 3,000 equates to losing £66/week. I can’t have a budget of MINUS pounds. That’s not a budget, that’s a hell-hole.

- They’re all ready now, just walk when it’s not raining.

- Takes time, isn’t benefiting me NOW, so hard to prioritise.

- Just haven’t got round to it yet.

How I want it to feel…

Flowing, with simple solutions presenting themselves. Magical. Not stressful.

What would help…

Whiskey? :P    Erm, having my online banking page open, looking through the previous 3 years of budgeting sheets to see where my greatest expenses are.
Putting the letters by the door.
Keeping my calendar up to remind me?

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…

Erm.. Work out how much I need to make a week/month to cover the costs; how much I’m LIKELY to make and how I’ll make that; then work out when I’ll run out/need it by.

Putting the letters by the door!

Will You Join Me?

It doesn’t matter what you’re working on – pick something off that pesky to-do list – how will you go about it? We’re all here at the party together, stop by for a drink.

Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch DistilleryWe’ve not had one in a while, and Eileen has given me permission to start one up on this blog. The idea and image here are based on their original idea.

So welcome to the second Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!

Work Party: a space for the community to support each other in focusing and getting something done.

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…
Sort out my time-table and registration stuff for next month (i.e. take and send in Photograph). Work out the final budget after my birthday money found me. Try to eat less junk food. Go for a walk/get some air.

The challenging part…
It’s a bit hard to find all the information myself. I need to be in the right mood – budgeting makes me feel so poor sometimes. Registration is scary (and expensive!). Walk is effort. Photographs make me look bad. :P

How I want it to feel…
Spacious. Like my choice.

What would help…
A pretty page to write the details on. Maybe some metaphors? Making a big deal out of make-up etc. to pretend it’s a photoshoot.

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…
Hmm.. take photos, put on make-up, pack bag ready for a walk. find the forms- put them on my desk.

Will You Join Me?

It doesn’t matter what you’re working on – pick something off that pesky to-do list – how will you go about it? We’re all here at the party together, stop by for a drink.

Introducing: Wednesday Work-Party!

Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch DistilleryWe’ve not had one in a while, and Eileen has given me permission to start one up on this blog. The idea and image here are based on their original idea.

So welcome to the first Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!

Similarly, getting in the habit of breaking down an item into smaller parts; finding the fear which is stopping you – these steps will become ritualised and you’ll be able to see why you are afraid of other tasks in time.

So please join in and make this a ritual for you too!

The important part is gathering with intention in this space (usually the blog page comments) and sharing with the community. Your failures and successes will spur on others and we can support each other.

Drinks are provided, so help yourself!

P.S. It’s okay if it’s not Wednesday anymore – I usually update on Thursday morning’s anyway, and time zones differ – let us know how you got on whatever the day! Total work-party amnesty!

Work Party!

Thing(s) I want to do…
I want to email that person about the emotionally challenging thing. And to to finish two blog-posts. And to clean the house ready for my friend’s visit.

The challenging part…
The emotional email is.. emotional. And the blog posts are hard to word. Perfectionism is arising.

How I want it to feel…
Easy. Casual. Like no big deal. Fun?

What would help…
Drafting an email and not sending it yet? Some Shivanata to get my brain fired up and connect the lines of the posts?

Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…
Open Email browser. Proof-read what I’ve currently got of my blog-posts. Clear my bedroom floor to fit the spare bed on.

Will You Join Me?

It doesn’t matter what you’re working on – it can be as simple as “taking five minutes to chill” – how will you go about it? We’re all here at the party together, stop by for a drink.

Party in the comments!
