Every Wednesday, we used to have a virtual work party over at the Hopscotch Distillery. We’ve not had one in a while, and Eileen has given me permission to start one up on this blog. The idea and image here are based on their original idea.
So welcome to the forth Phoenix Mind Wednesday Work Party!
Work Party: a space for the community to support each other in focusing and getting something done.
And, yes! You’re invited!
A Neuro-Ritual: So this is a Wednesday Ritual, because regular practise is important – if I make it a habit to work hard in certain circumstance then I can always induce those circumstances and my brain will automatically shift to working hard. You know it makes sense to create positive tools.
So please join in and make this a ritual for you too!
The important part is gathering with intention in this space (usually the blog page comments) and sharing with the community. Your failures and successes will spur on others and we can support each other.
Drinks are provided, so help yourself!
P.S. It’s okay if it’s not Wednesday anymore – I usually update on Thursday morning’s anyway, and time zones differ – let us know how you got on whatever the day! Total work-party amnesty!
Work Party!
Thing(s) I want to do…
Tidy my room and begin packing for University. Get through Chapter 2 of my book. Get this PDF up and out. Clean the kitchen and weigh the cats.
The challenging part…
My room is a tip. I’ve got a mental block on what I will and won’t need at University. I have a lot of stuff I’d like to get rid of but can’t due to emotions.
The kitchen is going to get dirty again tonight.. I might wait until Friday to do it.
The cats are confused by this diet they’re on and aren’t very happy to be held right now. Let alone while the Wii Fit beeps at them.
I’m so tired, I don’t want to stand up and tidy. I want to sit here and game. It’s also a gorgeous day outside..
How I want it to feel…
Energetic. Full of YIPPEEE! and fun. Exciting!
What would help…
Chai. Movement makes me want to move so maybe dance or something first?
Remembering how excited I am to be going back to university.
Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…
Go get some chai. As I pass my shelves/bookcase, grab one thing that needs to be somewhere else and move it.
Clean the kitchen worktop while the kettle boils?
Will You Join Me?
It doesn’t matter what you’re working on – pick something off your to-do list – how will you go about it? Come on in for a drink and let us know what you’re struggling with.
Party in the comments!
If sharing out loud isn’t your thing, that’s perfectly fine. Do come in and grab a drink or a dance though. Imagined scrolls count just as much as typed comments.
ROSE! I absolutely love this! I totally wanna work party it up with you! Okay, here’s mine:
Thing(s) I want to do…
Write my next blog post. Clean our home.
The challenging part…
And I have plans to get together with friends after work tonight.
I’m at work right now, where even when I have free time, the energy is oh-so-stuffy and it’s hard for me to get in a writing head. Also, I can’t clean from here.
How I want it to feel…
Joyful, heart-singing, peaceful.
What would help…
Giving myself a break! And coming up with a solid plan for how I can use my weekend time, since that IS in my control.
Tiniest, simplest step I will take today…
OOH, I’m loving this part. Okay, I love what you said about cleaning the kitchen while the kettle boils – it shows me that it truly can be something teeny weeny. So tonight, after I get home from happy hour and dinner and before I get into bed, I will spend five minutes decluttering.
Thank you so much! I “liked” you on Facebook, too. I love this and I will definitely be back for the next Wednesday Work Party.
Hi Marla; I’m glad you found me ^_^ The last one at the old site was in February and I haven’#t been able to round the old usuals up for the move
I totally get that “I’m at work, can’t do anything for blog/myself” feeling of stuffiness too.
I’m also a massive fan of “clearing one surface” (my desk) just before bed so that each morning I wake to a tidy looking space too. Usually only takes 5-minutes a day.
Let me know how you get on!
